How To Pay Your Bills
Don't Be Late
One common financial mistake that we really don't recognize, the damage that it does is, paying our bills late. Paying our bills late usually incurs fees and late charges. It also damages our overall credit. Much of our credit rating depends on regularly and promptly paying our bills. If we are constantly late on a bill, it tells a potential lender what to expect when or if they consider lending us money.
Credit bureaus track your financial history and create or prepare credit reports for use by banks, credit card companies, possible future employers and even owners of property you may buy or rent from. Credit bureaus and credit reports also may influence your credit scores quite a bit as well.
Being late once and awhile on our bills probably won't effect our credit too much, but being constantly late in paying our bills, probably will have a negative effect on our credit.
Pay On Time
Consistently paying your bills late could wind up costing you a lot more on higher credit card interest rates. Whenever you might need a loan from a bank or financial institution, you might have to pay a higher interest rate there, as well. Someone that may want to rent or lease property for a reasonable amount, may be more interested in getting those reliable payments, than a higher rent, so you could even be turned down for a rental or lease because of constant late payments.
The best advice is to consistently pay all your bills on time. The past record you have of paying bills on time or being constantly late could be as valuable or detrimental as any other element in establishing or keeping a good credit history. Paying your bills on time keeps your financial reputation at its best and saves you a lot of money in the short and long run.
